Replacing the pump
The path to the pump has already been passed, it remains to check the unit for serviceability. When the washing machine is running, the pump may or may not beep, but it may not pump out liquid. If the impeller is not blocked, then it is worth ringing the electronic winding.
- Pull off the drain hose clamp and disconnect from the pump housing.
- Disconnect the pump wiring, turn it to the right and remove it from the machine.
- Turn on the multimeter. Attach the test leads to the winding.
- A reading from 0 to 1 ohm indicates a burnout.
- A three-digit number indicates that the part is in good working order.

Why the washing machine “Bosch” does not drain water?
It is worth starting the check with typical problems that could lead to a stop of the drain. Look at the control panel. Make sure the No Drain program is selected. Next, check in the following sequence:
- Inspect the drain hose. It should be level, without kinks.
- Disconnect the hose from the body and lower it into the sink.
- Run any mode.
- If water flows out of the hose, then the cause is a blockage in the sewer system.
You can clean the sewer using special tools or by calling a plumber.
If the modes and communications of “Bosch Max 5” (Maxx 5) or another model are in order, then the case may be a serious breakdown. Typically, an electronically controlled machine will display an error code. Having learned its meaning, one can come to a conclusion about the location of the malfunction. But if there is no code, then you will have to check in order:
- drain filter and plug for clogging;

How to drain water from a Bosch washing machine?

- Open the plinth panel (it can be small or long). Press out the latches with a flat screwdriver.
- Place a flat container.
- Rotate the plug counterclockwise.
- Remove and clean the filter.
At the same time, water will drain from the tank and you can remove the laundry. Also remove dirt from the bore and check the pump impeller.

Level sensor check
The pressure switch (aka level sensor) is used to measure the amount of water in the tank. When a part fails, it may send incorrect signals to the module or not work at all. As a result, the control triac does not give a signal to turn on the pump.
The sensor is checked as follows:
- Remove the top cover of the Washing machine.
- At the side wall there is a small round piece with outgoing pipes. This is the pressure switch.
- Disconnect sensor contacts and hoses.
- Unscrew the fastening screw.
- Examine the tubes for a possible blockage.
To check the pressure switch, connect a tube to it and blow into it. If you hear clicks, then the part is working. If silence, replace the pressure switch.
A faulty level sensor is a rather rare breakdown. But if other problems are excluded, it is worth checking the pressure switch.
Have all the items been checked and cleaned, but the machine has not started normal operation? What to do? Probably a problem with the control unit firmware. Many users complain about a similar problem with a Russian-assembled Bosch washing machine. Of course, you cannot perform a flashing on your own. Therefore, you need to call the master. Repair will take no more than 20-40 minutes.
As you can see, most problems with a lack of drain are solved without contacting a service center. How to avoid problems? Follow simple rules:
- Check items carefully before loading into the drum.
- Clean the drain filter every one to two months.

Disconnect from the network. Disconnect the washing machine from the power supply!
Pump filter. Check pump filter for clogging. It is located on the front wall of the washing machine, below, under a small hatch, on the right or left. The washing machine does not drain water if the filter is clogged. It is necessary to unscrew it and clean it.
Before unscrewing the filter, we tilt the machine back and substitute a container for draining the water under it, unscrew it carefully so as to have time to screw it back when our container is full.
Pump impeller. Check the pump impeller. It is located behind the filter. You need to shine a flashlight into the hole from where the filter was unscrewed, and check the impeller itself and around it. Even a small object (coin, toothpick, hairpin, etc.) may cause the pump to malfunction and the water will not be drained. If a foreign object is found, remove it by hand or with tweezers.
Clean the drain connection. If, after removing the filter, the remaining water has not drained from the tank, then this means that the pipe connecting the tank to the pump is clogged. Then, for convenience, you need to disconnect the pump from the body of the washing machine, or rather not the pump itself, but the entire drainage unit or pump chamber. This is a plastic part that allows you to connect together the pump, drain pipe and drain hose, as well as fix this entire unit to the body of the washing machine. The pump chamber is mounted on screws, after removing which, it is easy to detach it from the body and it will be easier to get to the nozzle.
You need to act carefully. Disconnect the end of the pipe, which is attached to the pumping chamber with a powerful clamp and gradually clear the blockage by cleaning the corrugated rubber pipe and gradually draining the water from the tank into the prepared container. Then reconnect the branch pipe to the pumping chamber, just as it was in the beginning, without changing anything. If, after removing the filter, all the water flows out of the machine, then the drain pipe must still be checked for blockage by probing it along its entire length and if foreign objects are found in it, carry out the procedure for cleaning it.
Pump serviceability check. After completing the previous steps, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the drain pump. To do this, connect the washing machine to the power supply and select the “drain” program (if not, then “spin”). In this mode, the pump should start rotating, which can be observed in the filter hole. You need to shine a flashlight there and understand whether the pump impeller rotates or not. If it does not rotate, then the pump must be replaced.
The first steps for replacing the pump are similar to cleaning the pipe connecting the tank with the pump from clogging, only the pipe itself can not be disconnected from the pumping chamber. After the machine is tilted back and the pumping chamber is disconnected from its body, it is necessary to disconnect the pump itself from the power supply wires and from the pumping chamber itself. Basically, modern washing machines are equipped with drain pumps of several of the most common types, which are usually on sale.
One more subtlety. A situation may arise when the water does not drain, but everything is in order. You have removed the filter, checked the branch pipe and the drain hose, but there are no blockages, and you can see that the pump turns when the “drain” program is selected. There are two options. either the drain hose is clogged and the hose needs to be cleaned, or the pump has exhausted its resource and turns only to “dry”. That is, it can twist without water, but wedges with water, it lacks power. Such a pump must also be replaced.
Check after repair. After eliminating the malfunction and complete assembly, you must first visually check all the connections affected by the repair and the electrical wires supplying current to the pump. Then check the operation of the washing machine in all modes. If everything is in order, disconnect the washing machine from the mains again, tilt it back and illuminate it with a flashlight, check all connections for leaks and leaks. If you see traces of leaks on any connection, then you need to disconnect and reconnect it more carefully, then check everything again.
Surgical method or second aid to the washing machine

- Using the pliers, remove the fasteners from each of the four hoses. Note the location of the hoses and disconnect. Keep in mind that they may contain water too, so it’s best to prepare a towel.
- We unscrew the screw on which the valve is attached (it is located at the back) and take out the inlet valve itself.
The Tubular Heater in the washing machine is defective, therefore water does not flow into the tank. To replace this element, follow these steps:
- Opening the back cover of the washing machine.
- Temperature sensor connected to Tubular Heater, ground terminal. To remove these wires, use pliers, pull out the connectors.
- And then we take the socket wrench and unscrew the nut that holds the Tubular Heater.
- Then with a screwdriver, and then with your hands, pull the Tubular Heater towards you with up and down movements, and together with the Tubular Heater you need to pull out the rubber seal. Here again a screwdriver will help.
- When inserting a new Tubular Heater, be sure to pay attention to its guide, that is, to look into the hole formed from the past Tubular Heater. There will be grooves for tight fit of the part.
- The rubber seal of the new Tubular Heater is best lubricated with dishwashing gel before inserting so that it can be inserted quickly and easily.
- Then insert the temperature sensor, tighten the nut and connect the wires.
Another problem is problems with the washing machine door or with the fact that the door lock does not work. Both the one and the other factor affect the fact that water is not supplied to the machine. The following will help to fix such malfunctions:
The washer does not draw water into the drum: why and what to do? Common causes of breakage
There may be several reasons why the washing machine does not collect water, but the most popular ones are presented below:
- Valve failure. This can already be noticed at an early stage, when the machine has stopped washing off all the powder, and it remains untouched. In order to check the valve, you need to apply 220 volts to the valve, it should close (you will hear a characteristic click). If water is connected, it will pour directly into the drum. In this case, you need to check both valves. If one and the other do not respond, they can be replaced with a screwdriver.
- The water supply mesh is clogged. Most often, this problem looks like this: the machine takes a very long time to collect water, or there is a characteristic buzzing sound.
Also, quite often the wire that goes from the presostat to the bottom of the machine is exposed to wear. As a rule, it begins to leak air. The door lock is also important, because if it is jammed, the washing machine detects that the door is open and therefore does not supply water.
The next problem, due to which water does not start into the car, is a pump malfunction. If the pump burns out, this is a reason to contact the household appliance repair service, since repairing the pump with your own hands is quite problematic.
First aid in the absence of water supply
The main thing to remember is that all the actions to repair the machine that you perform must take place with the water supply tap closed and the washing machine disconnected from the network.
If the machine does not collect water and you hear a faint buzzing, initially you need to:
- Check that the tap through which the water is supplied is open.
- If it was open, then you need to block it. Then disconnect the water supply hose (located at the back of the machine) and lower it into a plastic container. Water will pour out of it.
- See if the hose is kinked and straighten kinks along its entire length.
These are the first measures when there is no water supply from the machine. If you noted that everything is fine and nothing prevents the machine from drawing water, the next step is to check the filter of the inlet hose.
In many models of washing machines, the filling hoses come with an additional filter, which is a small metal mesh. It often clogs up, let’s check it:
- We unscrew the hose from the washing machine.
- A valve system appears in front of us, into which a mesh filter is inserted. The filter has a special indent, so we take the pliers and, grasping this indent, pull out (do not unscrew) the mesh filter.
- The mesh can be cleaned with a needle under the pressure of water and inserted into the valve using pliers
The next problem, due to which washing water may not collect water, is a hard filter (and again there is a mesh).
If you have a meter, as a rule, a filter is placed after the tap. In order to cope with the problem, you will need two keys: with one you need to hold the connection with the tap, and the second. unscrew the bolt, and then substitute the container down and open the tap. The filter is cleaned with a stream of water and can be twisted, also holding the connection with the tap with a key.
